Over 200 students graduated, 67 with distinction and 59 with merit. The students arrived at 1 p.m. where they spent time saying goodbye to their tutors and others in their tutor groups. At 1.30, years 7-10 went home and year 11 students and staff enjoyed a buffet in Refresh which was decorated with banners and balloons.

The formal graduation started at 2 p.m. Students went onto the stage to receive their graduations scrolls plus certificates for those who had received the highest rewards since February.

The formal presentations were interjected with more light hearted awards given by staff and students.

The whole event was a very pleasant occasion enjoyed by all. Mr Anderson, Senior Assistant Headteacher, was extremely pleased with Ratton's first formal graduation.

We wish all year 11 students the very best in their forthcoming exams.

Year 10 Geography Field Trip to Exceat http://www.rattonschool.co.uk/news/?newsId=200 Fri, 07 May 2010 00:00:00 +0100 Sun, cloud, rain. Nobody really knew what to expect of the weather on the 7th May but one thing we did know is to expect lots of water, grass and mud at the Cuckmere River. Our aim for the day was to gather as much data as we could for our controlled assessment we are completing in class which is part of our GCSE course. During the day we stopped at five points along the river and collected data for the river width, depth, flow rate and took photos and sketches of the human influences along the river. Complications with methods and tangled string were overcome as well as disappearing dog biscuits whilst collaborating our results which can be used later in our assessment to draw conclusions on how human and physical features change down the course of the river. A lunch break in Litlington was well received before carrying on to Exceat. A successful day of data collection and hard work was rounded off with a game of football, a much deserved climax to the day.

Year 11 Hoodies http://www.rattonschool.co.uk/news/?newsId=194 Thu, 06 May 2010 00:00:00 +0100 The leavers this year had the opportunity to buy a leaver's hoodie sporting their own nickname and names of all those in year 11. 165 students purchased the hoodies and were very pleased with them. It is a very nice keep-sake to celebrate their five years at secondary school.

We would like to thank Blueprint Leisure Limited at Hailsham for doing such a good job. We hope that even more students will take up this offer next year.
